GNXonline .com - a right pain in the arse

Yeah? Affordable maybe. Reliable? Fuck no.

After a week of intermittent email and site access (four hours on, four off, four on, four off - you get the picture) for humdrumming , their entire server went down including their own website, and now - some four days later, the member zone is still not functioning so i can’t even redirect the nameservers to our new hosts…. ggrrrrr….

So we’ve gone for the nice guys at A Small Orange, who we know are good, because they host www.gallifreyone.com. ASO use CPanel, which is an administrators dream and offer unlimited databases, subdomains and all sorts. Tell ‘em I sent ya.

I agree, GNXonline are the biggest shower of arseholes I’ve encountered in my professional career. I wish I’d read a few reviews before being suckered in.

Funnily enough they have caused a whole load of trouble for one of their customers, the Lahore police force who made the mistake of using them to host a new web site for reporting crimes and filing legal forms. See news article in the Pakistan Daily Times.

Notice that the GNXonline operator Paimpozhil tells the press that the site has gone down because the Lahore police haven’t paid their bill. Now I have had dealings with Paimpozhil and his main admin technique is to rebuff any complaint with one of his many excuses absolving GNXonline of any blame (this being one of them). The poor old Lahore police force probably not knowing a dam thing about web sites and have copped the flak in the paper.

Looking into the real reason why their site went down it turns out GNXonlines’ server got hacked. A bit shocking if you think that the city police were running a crime reporting ticketing system with loads of confidential data from citizens reporting crimes. I don’t know what the law is in Pakistan but I’d say GNXonline where criminally negligent in this case

Cher, cowboys, country music, people called Lee, a sense of humour, cheesy pop music, the phrase 'must you?!', sarcasm, my menthol cigarettes, my macbook pro, my memories of florida, matt lamination on book covers, my ipod, subway sandwiches, fajitas, h&m, new york city, gel pens...

Things I don't like:
Chavs, ingornant people, automated customer services lines, my phone bill, being single, not getting noticed, small desks, shallow boys, not enough hours in the day, lack of respect, blackpool...
